Delhi Election 2025: 19.95% Voter Turnout Recorded by 11 AM, Leaders Cast Ballots

February 5, 2025: The much-anticipated Delhi Assembly Election 2025 is underway, with a voter turnout of 19.95% recorded by 11 AM. The voting began at 7 AM across 13,766 polling stations in the national capital and will continue until 6 PM. Citizens are deciding the fate of 699 candidates vying for seats in the 70-member House.

Security and Voter Participation

To ensure a smooth voting process, over 30,000 police personnel and 220 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed across Delhi. The Election Commission has also introduced a Queue Management System (QMS) app, allowing voters to check crowd levels in real time. Special provisions have been made for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

District-Wise Turnout

The North East district recorded the highest turnout at 24.87%, while the Central district logged the lowest at 16.46% till 11 AM.

Leaders from all parties have urged citizens to step out and vote, emphasizing the significance of democracy. Former Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud described voting as a fundamental responsibility, urging young voters to participate. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra appealed to Delhiites to vote for solutions to pressing issues like pollution, water shortages, and poor roads.

The results of the election will be announced on February 8, setting the stage for the next chapter in Delhi’s political landscape.
