Delhi Horror: Drunk Audi Driver Runs Over 5 Sleeping on Footpath

The accused, identified as Utsav Shekhar, 40, was in an inebriated state when he drove over two couples and an eight-year-old girl sleeping outside Shiva Camp in Vasant Vihar.

July-13, 2025: In a shocking case of reckless driving, a drunk Audi driver allegedly ran over five people, including an eight-year-old girl, while they were sleeping on a footpath in Delhi’s Vasant Vihar area during the early hours of July 9.

The accused, Utsav Shekhar (40), was driving a white Audi when he lost control and ploughed into the victims near Shiva Camp around 1:45 am, according to police officials. His medical examination confirmed alcohol consumption at the time of the incident. Shekhar, a resident of Dwarka, was apprehended on the spot.

🔹 Victims Include Entire Families

The victims were identified as:

• Ladhi (40)
• Her 8-year-old daughter Bimla
• Sabami alias Chirma (45) – Ladhi’s husband
• Ram Chander (45)
• His wife Narayani (35)

All victims are migrants from Rajasthan and were sleeping on the pavement when the vehicle ran over them.

🔹 Injured Rushed to Hospital

By the time police arrived at the scene, all five injured had already been transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. The extent of injuries is yet to be confirmed, but officials noted that none of the victims were declared dead at the scene.

According to a senior official, a preliminary investigation and eyewitness accounts revealed that the white Audi sped into the footpath without any warning. Legal proceedings under relevant sections of the IPC and Motor Vehicles Act have been initiated against Shekhar.

The police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact sequence of events and evaluate any additional negligence or possible speeding violations.
