Delhi Police Launches Drive to Identify Illegal Bangladeshi Intruders in New Seemapuri

"Comprehensive operations under LG’s directives aim to curb illegal infiltration, verify residents’ identities, and restore order in the capital."

New Delhi, December 13: In a significant move to address the growing issue of illegal Bangladeshi intruders in the capital, Delhi Police carried out a detailed operation in the E-44 Jhuggis of New Seemapuri on Thursday. This initiative follows directives from the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, who has set a two-month deadline to identify and expel unauthorized residents, according to a Delhi Police statement.

Police teams conducted door-to-door checks in the slum area, verifying identity documents and collecting information from 32 individuals for further scrutiny. Residents were cautioned against the use of fake identity cards and reassured that the drive focuses solely on identifying illegal intruders. Authorities have emphasized that strict legal action will be taken against those found living without proper documentation.

The operation comes as part of a broader strategy to ensure the security and order of Delhi. Similar drives have been conducted recently, including one in Kalindi Kunj, where police verified residents’ documents through door-to-door checks.

This directive from the Lieutenant Governor’s office follows concerns raised by Ulemas and Muslim leaders, who highlighted the rising presence of illegal infiltrators and called for immediate action. The drive aims to remove encroachments, revoke fraudulently obtained government documents, and facilitate the deportation of unauthorized individuals to Bangladesh.

More operations are planned in the coming weeks to address the issue comprehensively, marking a decisive step in bolstering the capital’s security infrastructure.
