The New Delhi Government Has Recently taken Charge
March 17, 2025: Delhi Police has announced the launch of ‘Anti-Romeo Squads’—a new initiative aimed at ensuring women’s safety in public places across the capital. The move comes as part of efforts to curb eve-teasing, molestation, and harassment.

Key Highlights:
Each district to have at least 2 squads led by a top cop (ACP level) from the Crime Against Women Cell.
Squad Composition: 1 Inspector, 1 Sub-Inspector, 4 Female Officers, 5 Male Officers, plus special staff for technical assistance.
Dressed in Civilian Clothes – Officers will operate in plain clothes to catch offenders red-handed.
Daily Drives at Vulnerable Spots – Squads will patrol hotspots and conduct surprise checks on public transport.
DTC Conductors, Drivers, and Public To Be Engaged – Encouraging reporting of harassment cases.

Police Directives:
Focus on law enforcement—not moral policing.
Sensitivity training for officers to handle victims with empathy.
Strict monitoring by District DCPs to ensure proper execution.
