Delhi Traffic Police Issues Advisory Ahead of Former PM Manmohan Singh’s State Funeral

Traffic Restrictions and Diversions Announced in Key Areas

December 28, 2024: Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory ahead of the state funeral of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Nigambodh Ghat.

The advisory outlines traffic restrictions and diversions on several major routes in New Delhi to manage the expected heavy influx of dignitaries, VIPs, and the general public attending the ceremony.

Key Traffic Advisory Details:

  • Diversion points include Raja Ram Kohli Marg, Rajghat Red Light, Signature Bridge, and Yudhister Setu.
  • Major roads such as Ring Road (Mahatma Gandhi Marg), Nishad Raj Marg, Boulevard Road, SPM Marg, Lothian Road, and Netaji Subhash Marg will face restrictions from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
  • Commuters are advised to avoid these stretches and plan their travel in advance.

Public Transport Recommended:
Authorities recommend the use of public transport to reduce road congestion. Parking should only be done in designated parking lots, and roadside parking is strictly prohibited.

Citizens are urged to report any suspicious activity or unidentified objects to the police.

State Funeral Details:
Dr. Manmohan Singh’s final rites will be held at Nigambodh Ghat at 11:45 AM with full state honours, as per directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
