Did A Boeing 787 Software Glitch Cause Ahmedabad Crash That Killed 274?
June 30, 2025: A Boeing 787 Dreamliner operating Air India Flight AI-171 crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad in May 2025, tragically killing all 274 people on board. Aviation attorney and former US Department of Transportation Inspector General Mary Schiavo has suggested that a software-triggered dual engine thrust rollback may have caused the accident — a malfunction previously documented in Boeing 787 aircraft.
In an exclusive interview with The Sunday Guardian, Schiavo said that a computer-induced thrust rollback could have led to a sudden loss of power in both engines, leaving the pilots unable to maintain altitude.
