Statewide demonstrations planned against NDA government on March 15

March 14, 2026: The Secular Progressive Alliance led by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has announced a statewide protest on March 15 against the National Democratic Alliance government over the reported shortage of commercial LPG cylinders. The alliance alleged that policy failures and lack of preparedness by the Centre have led to disruptions in the supply of domestic and commercial gas across the country.

The alliance said the shortage has severely affected businesses, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises in Tamil Nadu. Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take immediate steps to resolve the issue and restore normal supply, the statement said.

The SPA also criticised the Centre for allegedly withholding education funds and delaying approvals for infrastructure projects such as metro rail proposals in Coimbatore and Madurai. According to the alliance, protests will be held at 10:30 am across districts in the state, with participation from constituent parties including the Indian National Congress, Left parties and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi.
