Drunk Passenger Allegedly Urinates on Co-Flyer in Air India Flight From Delhi to Bangkok

Air India confirms unruly behaviour on flight AI 2336; civil aviation ministry promises probe, incident stirs fresh concerns over in-flight alcohol consumption

April 9, 2025: In a shocking incident onboard Air India flight AI 2336 from Delhi to Bangkok, an Indian passenger allegedly urinated on a co-flyer, who is said to be the Managing Director of a company, while under the influence of alcohol, sources revealed on Wednesday.

While Air India confirmed there was an instance of “unruly passenger behaviour”, the airline’s official statement did not detail the specific nature of the complaint.

Sources stated that the passenger was intoxicated and engaged in gross misconduct, prompting the airline crew to step in and issue a warning. The incident has been reported to the authorities, and Air India has offered assistance to the victim, who declined to file an immediate complaint after landing in Bangkok.

In response to the growing public concern, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu told news agency ANI, “Whenever these kinds of incidents happen, the ministry takes note of them. They will speak to the airline, and if there is any wrongdoing, then we will take necessary action.”

The airline further added that all standard operating procedures (SOPs) laid out by the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) were followed. A standing independent committee will now review the case and determine if further action is warranted against the accused passenger.

Air India stated:

“In addition to warning the unruly passenger, our crew offered to assist an aggrieved passenger to take up a grievance with authorities in Bangkok, which was declined at the time.”

This incident is the latest in a string of similar in-flight misconduct cases. Notably, in November 2024, a man allegedly urinated on an elderly woman in the business class of an Air India flight. Similarly, Arya Vohra, a student at a US university, was banned by American Airlines in March 2023 for urinating on a co-passenger.
