June 23, 2025: ECI Results– The Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to announce the results of by-elections for five key assembly seats across four states today. Counting of votes began at 8 am under tight security, as political parties eagerly await outcomes that could impact the balance of power.

The bypolls, held on June 19, cover two seats in Gujarat — Visavadar and Kadi — and one seat each in Punjab (Ludhiana West), West Bengal (Kaliganj), and Kerala (Nilambur). These elections have witnessed keen competition among major players, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and the Left Democratic Front (LDF) led by Pinarayi Vijayan.

These contests are especially significant as three of the seats—Kadi, Kaliganj, and Ludhiana West—became vacant following the deaths of sitting legislators, while the Visavadar and Nilambur seats were vacated due to resignations by incumbent MLAs.

Voter turnout varied significantly, with Kerala’s Nilambur recording the highest at an impressive 73.26%, reflecting strong engagement. In contrast, Punjab’s Ludhiana West saw the lowest turnout at 51.33%, raising concerns over voter apathy in the region.
