Ex-Karnataka DGP Om Prakash’s Wife Arrested for His Murder, Allegations of Mental Illness and Family Feud Surface

Pallavi, wife of former top cop Om Prakash, arrested under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for allegedly stabbing him to death in Bengaluru; son alleges long-standing threats and mental health issues in the family.

In a shocking development, Pallavi Om Prakash (64), wife of former Karnataka Director General of Police Om Prakash, has been arrested on charges of murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, after her husband was found stabbed to death at their residence in HSR Layout, Bengaluru, on Sunday evening.

The case has now been transferred to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) for further investigation. A local court has remanded Pallavi in 14-day judicial custody.

🕵️‍♂️ What Happened:

According to police, the 68-year-old former top cop was allegedly attacked with a glass bottle and stabbed multiple times in the chest and abdomen. A broken bottle and a knife were recovered from the scene.

Their son Karthikesh filed the police complaint, stating his mother had previously threatened to kill his father. He also said Prakash had temporarily moved out due to the threats but was coaxed into returning by their daughter, Kruthi, just two days before the incident.

💬 Son Alleges Mental Health Issues:

In his statement, Karthikesh claimed both his mother and sister were suffering from mental health disorders, including depression and schizophrenia, which often led to heated altercations with Prakash.

Sources say Pallavi had a history of erratic behavior in the IPS Officers’ Quarters where the couple resided — including barging into homes and shouting accusations.

• On Sunday evening, Karthikesh received a call from a neighbor about his father lying in a pool of blood.
• Investigations reveal that Pallavi allegedly threw chilli powder, tied him up, and then stabbed him.
• She reportedly confessed the crime to another officer’s wife, who then informed the authorities.

The motive is believed to be a property dispute, but police are also probing the potential involvement of the daughter, Kruthi.

🧾 Pallavi’s Counter-Claims:

In a twist, WhatsApp messages sent by Pallavi to various IPS officers’ groups surfaced. In them, she accused Om Prakash of poisoning her food, keeping her under surveillance, and refusing to live separately.

“I am a hostage. Always under surveillance by Om Prakash’s agents,” she wrote in one message, further alleging that even her food deliveries were tampered with.

👮‍♂️ Who Was Om Prakash?

A Bihar native and 1981-batch IPS officer, Om Prakash held a Master’s in Geology. He became Karnataka’s DGP in March 2025 and earlier served as the head of the Fire and Emergency Services and Home Guards.
