CM promises Metro completion traffic relief and water security for Thane
January 8, 2026: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis outlined a detailed development roadmap for Thane and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region promising relief from traffic congestion and completion of all major Metro projects by 2030. Speaking during the BJP campaign for Thane Municipal Corporation polls he said improved connectivity and sustainable infrastructure are key priorities.
Fadnavis announced plans to link the Coastal Road into a traffic diversion ring and develop a growth hub at Kolshet Diva with water taxi services to ease pressure on Ghodbunder Road. He assured residents that water shortages would end within three years with projects like Poshir Pelhar Gargai and Kalu dams boosting supply across the region.
The Chief Minister said dumping grounds will be replaced by bio mining projects in the next few years and Thane will get a specialised incubation centre. On seat sharing he defended the BJP Shiv Sena alliance in Thane saying it was necessary to respect ally Eknath Shinde’s political base and maintain Mahayuti strength.
