December 12, 2024: Family Demands Justice for Techie Who Allegedly Died by Suicide Amid Harassment Allegations
Bengaluru: The family of 34-year-old techie Atul Subhash, who allegedly died by suicide, has called for strict action against those they claim drove him to this tragic end. They have urged the legal system to ensure accountability so that his “soul can rest in peace.”
The Tragic Incident
Subhash’s body was discovered at his residence in Bengaluru’s Manjunath Layout. A placard reading “Justice is due” was found in the room. He left behind a 24-page death note and an 80-minute video explaining years of alleged harassment by his wife, Nikita Singhania, her family, and even a judge in Uttar Pradesh.
Police have filed a case of abetment to suicide against Nikita, her parents, and her uncle. A team has been dispatched to Uttar Pradesh to interrogate the accused.
Family Speaks Out
Subhash’s brother, Bikas, expressed frustration with the judicial system, alleging corruption and bias. He emphasized the need for a legal framework that protects men from harassment, particularly in cases involving marital disputes.
“My brother’s case highlights the urgent need for justice that is free of corruption and hears all parties fairly,” he said, adding that a biased system could lead to a societal fear of marriage among men.
Subhash’s uncle, Pawan Kumar, claimed his nephew was repeatedly humiliated and financially extorted under the guise of child maintenance. He alleged that demands began at ₹40,000 per month and eventually escalated to ₹1 lakh. According to Kumar, the techie was deeply hurt when his wife reportedly suggested he should end his life if he could not pay, and a judge allegedly laughed at the remark.
Financial and Emotional Strain
Subhash’s cousin, Bajrang Agarwal, echoed these claims, stating that Subhash faced relentless financial demands. When he refused to meet these demands, Nikita reportedly separated from him, taking their son. The family also accused Nikita of filing multiple legal cases against Subhash, which they claim pushed him to his breaking point.
Counterclaims by Nikita’s Family
Nikita’s uncle, Sushil Kumar, has denied all allegations, stating that neither he nor his family members were present during the incident. He emphasized that the matter is in court and that the family will respond to the allegations through legal channels.
Judicial and Police Investigations
Preliminary investigations indicate Subhash had been struggling with marital discord, with a case filed against him in Uttar Pradesh. He reportedly emailed his death note to several recipients and shared it with an NGO’s WhatsApp group.
The couple, who married in 2019, have a four-year-old son. Their marriage reportedly began deteriorating in 2021 when financial disputes escalated.

Subhash’s death has reignited discussions about the misuse of dowry and alimony laws, men’s rights, and potential biases in the judicial system. His family’s plea for justice adds to the growing calls for reforms to ensure fairness in marital and family disputes.
