Farooq Abdullah to Pakistan: Kashmir Rejected Two-Nation Theory in 1947, Will Never Accept It
Srinagar, April 28, 2025 —
Amid heightened tensions following the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, National Conference chairman and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah delivered a firm message to Pakistan: Kashmiris rejected the two-nation theory in 1947 and will never accept it.

Speaking to ANI, Abdullah said, “We regret that our neighbor still fails to understand that it has murdered humanity. If they think such attacks will make Kashmiris move towards Pakistan, they are mistaken. We rejected the two-nation theory in 1947, and we reject it even today.”

He stressed the unity of India’s diverse communities, adding, “Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians — we are all one.”
Addressing his past stance favoring dialogue with Pakistan, Abdullah said the time has come for decisive action. “Earlier, I supported dialogue, but now the nation demands strong action to ensure such attacks never happen again — not just limited responses like Balakot,” he remarked.
His comments came in response to Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir’s recent revival of the two-nation theory during a speech in Islamabad, where Munir described Kashmir as Pakistan’s “jugular vein” and vowed continued support for the Kashmiri cause.
Abdullah’s strong statement underlines India’s united stand against Pakistan’s persistent attempts to rake up Kashmir internationally, particularly in the wake of the tragic Pahalgam attack, which has drawn condemnation from across India and the world.
