Security forces engage in a fierce forest encounter with suspected terrorists near the International Border in Hiranagar; reinforcements rushed in.

A fierce gunbattle broke out in the Sanyal village of Kathua district on Sunday evening after Indian security forces intercepted a fresh group of infiltrators near the International Border in the Hiranagar sector.

Acting on intelligence inputs, the forces launched a search operation in the forested region, which quickly turned into an armed encounter. Officials confirmed that reinforcements have been deployed and operations are ongoing. Further updates are awaited.

This incident comes amid a spike in infiltration attempts and terror activity in the Jammu region. Just last week, on March 17, a Pakistani terrorist was gunned down during an encounter in Kupwara.

Tragically, Kathua has also witnessed civilian casualties, with terrorists recently killing three locals, including a 14-year-old boy, further heightening tensions and security alerts in the area.
