FIITJEE Coaching Centers Across North India Shut Down Amid Teacher Exodus Over Unpaid Salaries

Hundreds of students left stranded as teachers quit, parents demand refunds and solutions from the prestigious coaching institute.

January 24, 2025: A wave of sudden closures has hit at least eight FIITJEE coaching centers across North India, leaving students and parents in turmoil ahead of critical board and entrance exams. The closures stem from an exodus of teachers who quit en masse due to unpaid salaries, according to reports.

Centers in cities like Noida, Ghaziabad, Bhopal, Varanasi, Delhi, Meerut, and Patna have shut down without prior notice, prompting widespread protests from parents outside the institute’s locked gates. Meerut became the latest city to witness the shutdown, with administrators allegedly unable to sustain operations despite efforts to source teachers from Noida.

Parents Left in the Lurch
Parents, many of whom had paid significant sums for their children’s education, expressed outrage at the abrupt closures. Several have filed police complaints against the coaching giant, alleging mismanagement and a failure to honor financial commitments.

One parent from Meerut, who invested ₹6 lakh in FIITJEE classes, said, “They assured us the centers wouldn’t shut and kept taking our money. Even when teachers started leaving, they promised to manage. Now, my child’s future is uncertain.”

Another parent who recently paid ₹4 lakh added, “A former teacher informed us that most staff members were leaving due to months of unpaid salaries. We feel betrayed.”

Operational and Financial Troubles
Speculation over FIITJEE’s financial health has been mounting. Reports suggest the institute is grappling with cash flow issues and administrative hurdles, including actions taken against its branches for licensing and fire safety violations. The crisis has reached a boiling point just as students gear up for critical exams, including the JEE Mains scheduled for January 22-24.

Founded in 1992 by IIT Delhi alumnus DK Goel, FIITJEE was once regarded as a premier coaching institute for engineering and NEET aspirants. With 72 centers in 41 cities and a workforce of over 300, the institution has trained thousands of students for India’s top-tier exams.

What’s Next for Students?
The closures have left students demoralized, with many uncertain about how to prepare for upcoming exams. Parents are calling for immediate solutions, including fee refunds and alternative arrangements for their children’s education.

As the fallout continues, FIITJEE’s future remains uncertain, casting a shadow over its once-sterling reputation.
