Himanta Biswa Sarma escalates attack as complaint filed against Pawan Khera ahead of polls
April 7, 2026: Police reached the residence of Congress leader Pawan Khera after an FIR was filed against him by Riniki Bhuyan Sarma. The complaint, confirmed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, accuses Khera of making “baseless allegations” regarding multiple passports and overseas assets. Sarma also alleged that material used by Congress leaders in recent press briefings was sourced from Pakistani social media groups, suggesting possible attempts to influence the state’s electoral process.
