Foreign Woman Killed In Zirakpur Crash
Speeding Audi hits pedestrian near hospital on busy VIP Road
March 11, 2026: A foreign national was killed in a late-night road accident in Zirakpur, Punjab, after being struck by a speeding luxury car near M-Care Hospital on the city’s busy VIP Road. The victim, identified as Mavluda, died on the spot after a black Audi reportedly hit her while she was crossing the road late Monday night. The incident has raised fresh concerns over reckless driving and road safety in the rapidly expanding urban area.
According to eyewitnesses, Mavluda had visited the hospital with her friend Abhishek to check on his pregnant wife who had been admitted there. Around midnight, the two stepped out of the hospital and attempted to cross the road when the speeding car struck them. Witnesses claimed the impact was severe, throwing the victim several feet into the air before she landed on the opposite side of the road. She suffered critical injuries and died instantly, while Abhishek sustained minor injuries.
Police launched an investigation after locals alerted authorities through the control room. Officers later shifted the body to Civil Hospital Dera Bassi for a post-mortem examination and began reviewing CCTV footage from nearby cameras to identify the driver. Investigating officer Raj Kumar confirmed the victim was a foreign national, adding that her sister is traveling from Turkey to India. Residents have since demanded stricter traffic enforcement on VIP Road, citing increasing risks to pedestrians.
