Dr. Singh passed away at the age of 92 at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences. In her statement, Sonia Gandhi highlighted his wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to social justice and democratic values.

“He was so gentle in his manner but so resolute in his deeply-held convictions. His knowledge, honesty, and humility left an indelible mark on everyone who crossed his path,” she wrote.

Sonia Gandhi emphasised the personal void his passing leaves, stating, “He leaves a void in our national life that can never be filled. We in the Congress Party, and the people of India, will forever be proud and grateful we had a leader like Dr. Manmohan Singh.”

Dr. Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister and his previous roles, including Finance Minister and RBI Governor, showcased his brilliance and dedication.

“He brought brilliance and distinction to every high office he held, and he brought pride and honor to India,” Sonia Gandhi concluded.

As India mourns the passing of one of its most respected leaders, his legacy will continue to inspire generations.
