IOC assures citizens of sufficient fuel and LPG stocks across India, warns against unnecessary hoarding.
May 9, 2025: As panic buying of petrol, diesel, and LPG cylinders surged across several border states following escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) on Friday issued a public appeal urging citizens to remain calm and avoid unnecessary stockpiling.

The panic was especially pronounced in parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat—states that witnessed sirens, blackouts, and increased military activity after Pakistan launched a series of drone and missile attacks along the western border. The Indian Army later confirmed that all such attacks were successfully repelled.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Indian Oil clarified:
“There is no need for panic buying—fuel and LPG are readily available at all our outlets. Indian Oil has ample fuel stocks across the country and our supply lines are operating smoothly.”

The oil marketing giant emphasized that undue panic buying could lead to temporary disruption in distribution logistics.
“Help us serve you better by staying calm and avoiding unnecessary rush. This will keep our supply lines running seamlessly and ensure uninterrupted fuel access for all,” the message read.
The current bout of military escalation stems from India’s Operation Sindoor—a retaliatory strike on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir—following the brutal April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 civilian lives. Pakistan’s response included attempted strikes on Indian military targets in 15 cities, all of which were neutralized.

IOC reiterated that despite the prevailing security concerns, its fuel supply chains remain unaffected, and essential services will continue without disruption.
