Directive follows row over display of Chinese-made robotic dog in Delhi

February 18, 2026: Galgotias University has been directed to immediately vacate its expo space at the Delhi AI Summit following controversy over the display of a Chinese-made robotic dog, government sources said on Wednesday. The action came after videos from the high-profile event in the national capital circulated online, triggering allegations that imported technology was being showcased as indigenous innovation.

The dispute intensified after social media posts claimed that the robotic dog, reportedly the Unitree Go2 developed by China-based Unitree Robotics, was being presented under the name “Orion.” Critics alleged that the exhibit gave the impression of a homegrown product. In response, the Greater Noida-based university clarified that it had neither built the robot nor claimed to have developed it, stating that the device was procured strictly for academic and training purposes in robotics and artificial intelligence.

The university maintained that the robotic dog was intended as a hands-on learning tool for students and denied any attempt at misrepresentation. However, with government sources confirming the directive to vacate the venue, the episode has intensified debate around transparency and attribution at major technology and innovation showcases.
