March 21, 2026: Gautam Singhania, Chairman and Managing Director of Raymond Group, was injured after a speedboat carrying him capsized in the Maldives near the Felidhoo region late Thursday night. He was later airlifted to Mumbai and is currently undergoing treatment at Breach Candy Hospital. Officials confirmed that he sustained minor injuries and is now stable.

A total of seven people were on board at the time of the accident. While Singhania was rescued safely, two Indians, including rally driver Hari Singh, are still missing. Three others were injured, one of them seriously with a fractured arm. According to reports, five passengers, including one Russian woman and four Indian men, were swept into the sea after the boat overturned. The Maldives National Defence Force Coast Guard has launched rescue operations, though rough sea conditions are hampering efforts.

The accident reportedly occurred near V. Felidhoo in the early hours of Friday, when the tourist speedboat lost balance and overturned, throwing passengers into the water. Singhania’s spokesperson termed it an unfortunate incident, confirming he is out of danger and recovering under medical supervision. Known for his passion for adventure sports, the industrialist leads a diversified business empire spanning textiles, real estate, engineering, and consumer care.
