Goa Police Nab Murder Accused Vishnu Vishnoi from Punjab in Daring Hotel Raid

32-Year-Old Vishnu Vishnoi Arrested in Anjuna After Swift Operation, Handed Over to Punjab Police

North Goa, August 28 – A tense manhunt came to an end in Goa when police arrested 32-year-old Vishnu Vishnoi, a prime accused in a Punjab murder case, during a late-night hotel raid in Anjuna on August 26.

The arrest was the result of a special 20-member police team from the Mapusa subdivision, formed after Punjab Police alerted their Goa counterparts that Vishnoi, a resident of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, was hiding in the coastal state.

According to officials, Vishnoi was wanted in a high-profile murder case registered in Abohar, Punjab, under stringent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. An earlier FIR had also named him in serious crime charges.

The Operation

The intelligence input reached the office of Rahul Gupta, IPS (SP North Goa), who immediately ordered swift action. The plan was drawn under the supervision of DIG Range Smt. Varsha Sharma, IPS, with PI Nikhil Palekar (Mapusa PS) and PSI Swapnil Naik (Anjuna PS) leading the ground team.

The officers zeroed in on a hotel in Anjuna, where Vishnoi was staying with six associates. In a carefully executed move, the police stormed the premises, arresting Vishnoi without incident.

Aftermath

While Vishnoi was handed over to the Punjab Police, his six companions were released after no direct link to the crime was established. Police described the operation as “well-planned and executed,” crediting the swift coordination between Punjab and Goa Police for the success.

The arrest has brought relief to investigators in Punjab, where Vishnoi was accused of being a key player in a violent case that had unsettled the region.
