
Heatwave Alert for Rajasthan, Gujarat; Rain Likely in South and Northeast India Over Next 5 Days: IMD
April 17, 2025 |The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for several parts of western India, especially Rajasthan and Gujarat, as temperatures continue to soar. Meanwhile, Delhi is expected to experience high temperatures but no heatwave until April 22.
On Wednesday, the national capital recorded a maximum of 39.1°C, 2.3°C above the seasonal average. For Thursday, Delhi is likely to touch 40°C, with a minimum temperature of 25°C. Between April 17–22, the capital may see highs between 38°C and 41°C.
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–50 kmph) across several regions over the next five days:

Additionally, isolated dust storms or thunderstorms are likely over East Rajasthan on April 17, and over northwest plains from April 18 to 20.
