Heavy Rains in Bengaluru: 10 Flights Diverted to Chennai, Traffic Jams Reported
Bengaluru, March 22 – At least 10 Bengaluru-bound flights were diverted to Chennai on Saturday evening due to heavy rains in the Karnataka capital, airport officials confirmed.
IndiGo Airlines took to social media platform X to inform passengers about the unfavourable weather conditions, urging them to monitor flight statuses and utilize flexible rebooking or refund options through their website.
“We’re closely monitoring the weather and will keep you informed with timely updates,” IndiGo posted.
Air India also acknowledged the weather-related disruption, citing air traffic congestion in Bengaluru. The airline advised passengers to check flight statuses before heading to the airport.

Apart from flight diversions, Bengaluru’s roads have been severely affected. Social media posts from residents report flooded streets and long traffic jams in several parts of the city.
The Bengaluru Traffic Police issued an alert regarding a traffic jam en route to Kempegowda International Airport, particularly due to waterlogging at Hunsmaranahalli.
“There is severe traffic congestion, affecting the traffic towards the International Airport,” the police warned.
Bengaluru is notorious for traffic snarls, and heavy rains only worsen the situation, causing delays for both local commuters and air travelers.
