Holi and Jumma Celebrated in Harmony in Sambhal Amid Tight Security
Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh), March 14: Despite heightened security, Sambhal witnessed peaceful Holi celebrations, with Friday prayers (Jumma) conducted smoothly at Shahi Jama Masjid amid the holy month of Ramzan.
Officials and local leaders praised the cooperation between communities, as the festival of colors and faith was celebrated in harmony, sending a message of unity and peace.
Sambhal Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Vandana Mishra lauded the seamless execution of Holi processions and the peaceful observance of Friday prayers.
🗣️ “Along with Holi, the Jumma namaz was performed peacefully. We have managed to celebrate both things in perfect harmony. The processions were peaceful, and everyone’s cooperation sent a strong message that peace prevails in Sambhal. Security forces were deployed to manage the crowd and ensure law and order,” she said.
District Magistrate Rajendra Pensia also highlighted how the district, which had witnessed violence in November last year, was a picture of peace and celebration this time.
🗣️ “Everyone is happy, playing Holi with joy and respect. We have received full cooperation from the public,” Pensia stated.
To ensure peace and security, Circle Officer Anuj Chowdhary led a flag march alongside police and paramilitary forces.
🔹 Drone surveillance and foot patrolling were conducted across the district.
🔹 Paramilitary forces marched to deter any law-and-order disruptions.
🔹 Officials confirmed that no untoward incidents were reported during the celebrations.
🗣️ “We are conducting foot patrolling and drone surveillance to monitor the situation,” Chowdhary told ANI.
Ahead of Holi, Sambhal MP Zia ur Rehman Barq urged both Hindus and Muslims to celebrate responsibly, ensuring that no sentiments were hurt during the festivities.
Posting on social media, Rehman emphasized the importance of peace and harmony:
🗣️ “With the holy month of Ramzan ongoing, and Holi also being celebrated, I request Muslim brothers to offer prayers at the nearest mosque and avoid areas where colors are thrown. Likewise, I urge our Hindu brothers to celebrate Holi with joy while being mindful of mosques and their surroundings.”
Rehman clarified that his appeal was not out of fear of the police but out of a commitment to communal harmony.
🗣️ “My appeal is not influenced by the police, administration, or government. It is a call for brotherhood, peace, and the progress of our city, state, and country.”
Sambhal’s peaceful Holi and Jumma celebrations reflect the spirit of India’s diversity, where communities come together despite differences in faith.
🔸 Holi celebrates the victory of good over evil and the arrival of spring.
🔸 Ramzan marks a period of fasting, prayer, and self-reflection for Muslims.
The coexistence of both celebrations in Sambhal showcased the essence of communal harmony and mutual respect.
