IMD Weather Update: Heavy Rains Predicted In THESE States

June 28, 2025: Weather Update– The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for multiple states, including Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Kerala, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall on June 28, 2025. Meanwhile, Delhi-NCR remains under a yellow alert for today and tomorrow, with the possibility of fresh showers later in the day.

Heavy Rain Forecast Across Multiple Regions

In its latest weather bulletin, IMD forecasted:

Heavy to very heavy rainfall in Goa, Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, and Gujarat in the coming days.

Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is likely across Northeast India for the next 7 days, with:

Very heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh on July 1

Heavy showers in Nagaland on July 2

Elsewhere:

Tamil Nadu can expect heavy downpour on July 28

Coastal Karnataka will see wet spells until July 3

Kerala is forecast to receive heavy rain on June 28, 29, and July 3

North and Central India on Rain Watch

The IMD has warned of isolated heavy rainfall over:

Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, and Sikkim until July 3

Jammu and Kashmir on June 28 and 29

River Alert in Jammu and Kashmir

In Jammu and Kashmir, intense rainfall has caused a surge in Chenab River’s water level, leading to overflow conditions near the Baglihar Hydroelectric Power Project.

The Ramban district administration issued a public advisory:

“A complete ban on swimming, bathing, fishing and roaming near River Chenab & all Nallahs in District Ramban due to rising water levels and safety risks. Strict legal action against violators. Stay Alert. Stay Safe.”

Additionally, silt flushing from the Dulhasti Power Station dam reservoir in Kishtwar is scheduled from 12:00 AM to 5:00 PM today, June 28.

Delhi-NCR Weather Update

The Delhi Regional Meteorological Centre forecasts:

  • Generally cloudy skies
  • Light to moderate rainfall, with thunderstorms and lightning likely in the evening or night
  • Temperatures expected to range between 26°C and 37°C
  • Intermittent wet spells anticipated for the next five days
