"India Honors Its Past, Eyes the Future": US Vice President JD Vance Praises India's Vision During Jaipur Visit
Jaipur (Rajasthan), April 22:
US Vice President JD Vance lauded India’s “laser-like focus on the future” and its “richness of history and tradition” during an address in Jaipur on Tuesday, the second day of his ongoing four-day visit to India. Speaking at an event that underscored the deepening India-US ties, Vance praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership and the enduring friendship between the two nations.
Highlighting growing cooperation across sectors including energy, Vance said,
“American energy can help realise India’s nuclear power production goals.”
He further remarked on the strong personal bond between leaders of the two countries, noting that Prime Minister Modi was among the first foreign leaders to be welcomed by President Donald Trump during his second term.
“PM Modi inspires remarkable loyalty because of his belief in his people and his country, just like President Trump,” Vance said.
Vance also expressed emotional gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to him and his family. He described his visit as personally meaningful, calling India the “birthplace of my wife’s parents.” The Vance family has so far visited Akshardham Temple, Cottage Emporium, and Jaipur’s historic Amber Fort, where they were greeted with traditional Rajasthani hospitality.
“I’ve been amazed by the ancient beauty of India’s architecture, the richness of its history and traditions, and also the forward-looking energy that defines this nation in 2025,” Vance said.
Reaffirming the strategic partnership between the two democracies, Vance emphasized that India and the United States are bound not only by common interests but also by shared values. He praised India’s ability to balance tradition with ambition, noting that the country’s commitment to progress makes it a key ally in shaping the global future.
His remarks come a day after his meeting with PM Modi in New Delhi, where both leaders reaffirmed their resolve to enhance cooperation in trade, technology, energy, and defense under the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
Vance’s visit continues with further engagements in Agra before concluding on April 24.
