- 🇮🇳 Suspension of Indus Waters Treaty
India has placed the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance, halting all technical and diplomatic cooperation on river water sharing. This marks a rare and significant shift in a treaty that has endured decades of conflict. - ❌ No More SAARC Visas for Pakistani Nationals
India will cease issuing SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) visas to citizens of Pakistan. This effectively shuts down a major regional diplomatic and people-to-people interaction route. - 🚧 Closure of the Attari-Wagah Border Crossing
The Atari-Wagah land border, one of the few remaining cross-border transit points, will be completely sealed. Movement of goods and people across this route has been suspended until further notice. - 🛑 Withdrawal of Indian Diplomatic Staff from Pakistan
India has begun the process of withdrawing its diplomatic mission staff from its High Commission in Islamabad. This signals a severe downgrading of diplomatic ties between the two countries. - 🕒 Pakistani Nationals Ordered to Leave India Within 48 Hours
The MEA has cancelled all valid Indian visas held by Pakistani citizens. They have been directed to exit the country within 48 hours, underscoring India’s zero-tolerance stance on cross-border terrorism.

Background: The Pahalgam Attack
The terror strike occurred on April 22 in the tourist hotspot of Baisaran, Pahalgam, where terrorists linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba’s proxy group, The Resistance Front (TRF), opened fire on unarmed civilians. Among the dead was a newly-wed Indian Navy officer and several families on vacation.
India has vowed strong military and diplomatic retaliation, with both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh issuing warnings to those responsible and their cross-border handlers.
