India to host 17th International Congress on the Chemistry of Cement in 2027

New Delhi [India]: India has secured the privilege of hosting the esteemed International Congress on the Chemistry of Cement (ICCC) in 2027.

The successful bid presentation was made by India’s leading research and academic institutions, the National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCCBM) and IIT Delhi, during the ongoing 16th ICCC in Bangkok, Thailand, read the Ministry of Commerce and Industry press release.

India faced competition from Switzerland and the UAE, ultimately emerging as the chosen host. The decision was officially announced on September 20, in Bangkok, marking a moment for India’s academic and research community.

The International Congress on the Chemistry of Cement is a highly prestigious event that reviews advancements in cement and concrete research. These congresses have been held approximately every four to six years since 1918, serving as a crucial bridge between academia and the cement industry.

Notably, India previously hosted the 9th Congress in 1992. The current 16th ICCC is taking place in Bangkok, Thailand, from September 18 to 22, read the press release.

Hosting the 17th ICCC in New Delhi offers India a unique opportunity to bring together global leaders, experts, and innovators in the cement sector.

This event serves as a testament to India’s research and academic capabilities and provides a platform to showcase the vibrant city of New Delhi to the global cement and concrete industry.

The National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCCBM), an apex Research and Development organization under the administrative control of DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, will play a pivotal role in organizing this significant event.

NCCBM is dedicated to research, technology development, education, and industrial services for the cement, allied building materials, and construction industries. The organization has a proven track record of successfully executing biennial NCB International Seminars/Conferences of similar magnitude, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience for participants from across the globe.

India’s cement industry, which is the second-largest in the world with an installed capacity of 600 million tonnes, plays a vital role in the country’s circular economy framework, read the release.

It is known for utilizing various industrial wastes and maintaining one of the lowest CO2 footprints globally, making it one of the most energy-efficient industries.

With its booming infrastructure development, abundant resources, and expertise, India offers an ideal backdrop for the 17th ICCC.
