
India-US Strategic Ties to Define 21st Century, Says PM Modi After Meeting VP JD Vance
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday declared that the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership will be one of the defining partnerships of the 21st century, following his meeting with visiting US Vice President JD Vance and his family in New Delhi.
āIndia-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership will be a defining partnership of the 21st Century for a better future of our people and the world,ā PM Modi wrote on X.
The meeting marked a high point in growing bilateral ties, as both leaders reviewed progress since Modiās January visit to Washington DC and his talks with President Donald Trump.
In their talks, PM Modi and Vice President Vance:
The leaders emphasized aligning Indiaās āViksit Bharat 2047ā vision with Americaās āMAGAā (Make America Great Again) strategy to promote long-term, inclusive global growth.
The leaders noted that the upcoming India-US BTA would help boost trade, create jobs, and enhance supply chain resilience, while reflecting the welfare of citizens on both sides.
They also reaffirmed their shared commitment to a free, open, and rules-based international order, with cooperation on security and technology forming the cornerstone of this new phase of strategic partnership.
Modi personally welcomed the Vance family at his official residence, after which they paid a spiritual visit to the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple in New Delhi.
VP Vance, expressing his appreciation, posted on X:
āThank you all so much for your hospitality and kindness in welcoming me and my family to this beautiful place⦠Our kids, in particular, loved it. God bless.ā
His children ā Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel ā wore traditional Indian attire during the temple visit, capturing the spirit of cultural diplomacy.
The family also visited the Central Cottage Industries Emporium at Janpath, engaging with Indiaās rich artisanal and handicraft traditions.
VP Vance arrived earlier in the day at Delhiās Palam Air Force Station, where he received a ceremonial welcome from Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. His four-day visit continues with stops in Jaipur and Agra, and concludes on April 24.
The visit comes shortly after PM Modiās high-profile summit with President Trump and ahead of the upcoming Quad Summit, which India is set to host later this year.
