
India Weather Alert: Goa on Red, Mumbai & Delhi Brace for Heavy Rain as Monsoon Looms
May 24, 2025 | India’s monsoon season is making a dramatic entry, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a red alert for parts of Goa and the Konkan region. Mumbai and nearby areas are under an orange alert, bracing for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds reaching up to 60 kmph.
The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall across Konkan and Goa, urging residents to stay vigilant and prepared to move to safer locations if necessary.
Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Sindhudurg, and the Pune and Satara ghats are under an orange alert today. The city witnessed heavy rainfall on May 22, and more downpours are on the way.
Delhi is set to see thunderstorms and showers on May 24, with partly cloudy skies and sporadic rainfall expected until May 27.
Heavy rains have triggered red alerts in Kerala, including Thiruvananthapuram, with surface winds up to 50 kmph. Fishing has been banned along the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts from May 24-27, while INCOIS has warned of 3.5-meter-high waves on Saturday.
