Indian Army Strikes Back After Drone Attacks from Pakistan, High Alert Across Border States

26 Pakistani drones spotted from Baramulla to Bhuj; armed drone injures civilians in Punjab; India enforces blackout and intensifies countermeasures

New Delhi [India], May 10: The Indian Army launched a strong retaliatory strike in the Jammu sector on Saturday following escalating drone attacks by Pakistan, targeting Indian cities and border infrastructure along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB), defence sources confirmed.

In the past 24 hours, 26 Pakistani drones were detected along India’s western front—spanning from Baramulla in Jammu & Kashmir to Bhuj in Gujarat—in what officials described as a coordinated attempt to target military and civilian sites.

Key locations where drones were sighted include: Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozepur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet, and Lakhi Nala.

One armed drone struck a civilian area in Ferozepur, Punjab, causing serious injuries to members of a local family. Emergency medical aid was provided, and the site has been secured by Indian forces.

The Indian Armed Forces remain on maximum alert, deploying integrated counter-drone systems to detect, track, and neutralize aerial threats in real time. Officials say continuous monitoring is underway, and swift action is being taken at all flashpoints.

To ensure public safety, blackouts have been imposed in vulnerable border areas including Akhnoor, Udhampur (Jammu & Kashmir), and Santalpur taluka (Patan district) in Gujarat.

The Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) urged citizens to remain calm and follow administrative instructions.

“As a precautionary measure, a blackout has been imposed in the villages of bordering Santalpur taluka in Patan district. All citizens are advised to stay away from rumours and follow the instructions issued by the administration,” said a statement from the CMO Gujarat on X.

In Jammu’s Samba and Pathankot sectors, red tracer rounds lit up the night sky as India’s air defence systems successfully intercepted enemy drones. Loud explosions followed, confirming the neutralisation of incoming threats.

This surge in drone activity follows India’s precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives. Indian air and missile strikes earlier this week targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK).

Despite Pakistan’s repeated attempts to escalate, India has maintained that its responses are measured, proportionate, and targeted, aimed strictly at eliminating terrorist threats.
