“A Major Drop in Food Prices Sparks Hope for Economic Stability”
New Delhi, March 12: India’s inflation rate saw a major drop in February 2025, hitting its lowest level since July 2024, bringing relief to consumers grappling with high living costs. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation stood at 3.61%, marking a significant 65 basis point decline from the previous month, as per data from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
The steep fall in inflation was largely driven by a sharp correction in food prices, with the All India Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) dropping to 3.75%, a notable 222 basis point decline from January 2025. This is the lowest food inflation rate recorded since May 2023, reflecting improving price stability in essential goods.
