July 17, 2025: An IndiGo flight en route from Delhi to Imphal had to return to the Indira Gandhi International Airport shortly after takeoff on Thursday due to a technical snag, the airline confirmed.
The flight, operating under flight number 6E-2421, took off as scheduled but was forced to turn back mid-air after the pilots reported an issue during the initial phase of the journey. The aircraft landed safely, and all passengers and crew are safe, according to IndiGo’s official statement.
“Flight 6E-2421 operating from Delhi to Imphal returned to Delhi as a precaution due to a technical issue. The aircraft is currently undergoing inspection by our engineering team,” IndiGo said.
Passengers Shifted to Alternate Flight
Passengers were accommodated on an alternative aircraft, and the airline expressed regret for the inconvenience caused. “We are working to ensure that all passengers reach their destination as soon as possible,” the statement added.
DGCA Monitoring the Situation
India’s civil aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has been notified of the incident. Officials said that a detailed inspection and report will be required before the aircraft can resume operations.
