IndiGo Flight Catches Fire Just Before Takeoff in Ahmedabad!
July 23, 2025: Today, an IndiGo flight with about 60 people on board had to cancel its takeoff at Ahmedabad airport when one of its engines caught fire.
The event happened immediately before IndiGo flight IG07966 was about to leave. Reports say that the pilot called “Mayday” to air traffic control after seeing fire in one of the engines as the plane was getting ready to take off. The plane stopped taking off right away, and all the passengers got off safely.
The ATR76 plane was supposed to take off around 11:00 AM IST. IndiGo hasn’t made a formal comment yet, but airport officials have confirmed that the flight was quickly evacuated.
This happened almost a month after a terrible Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London crashed on June 12, killing 241 people on board and 19 on the ground. The first report on that crash said that a lack of gasoline was to blame.
An investigation into the IndiGo engine fire that happened today is likely to start soon to find out what caused the problem. It is said that all passengers and staff are safe.
