January 30, 2026: An IndiGo international flight flying from Kuwait to Delhi was diverted to Ahmedabad in the early hours of Friday after a handwritten bomb and hijack threat was discovered inside the aircraft. The alarming note, reportedly written on a tissue paper, was found during the flight, triggering immediate safety protocols and a coordinated security response.
Officials said the flight crew promptly informed air traffic control after the threat was detected, strictly following standard operating procedures for onboard security concerns. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the pilot was advised to divert the aircraft to the nearest suitable airport. Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport was chosen due to its operational readiness and security infrastructure.
The aircraft landed safely in Ahmedabad, and all passengers and crew members were evacuated without any injuries. Security agencies launched a thorough search and investigation soon after landing to assess the credibility of the threat. Authorities confirmed that standard aviation safety measures were followed throughout, and further inquiry is underway to determine the source and intent behind the threat.
