IndiGo Issues Travel Advisory Amid Dense Fog Disruptions in Delhi and Bengaluru

Flight schedules face delays due to reduced visibility in Northern India and Bengaluru; passengers urged to check updates before travel.

New Delhi, January 4: Amid dense fog conditions affecting Delhi and parts of Northern India, IndiGo Airlines issued a travel advisory on Saturday, warning passengers about potential flight delays and disruptions caused by low visibility.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), IndiGo informed travelers about the ongoing fog situation and its impact on operations.

“6ETravelAdvisory: With winter in full swing, many regions in Northern India are experiencing varying fog conditions. On some days, fog may be dense, while on others, lighter fog could still impact flight schedules,” the airline posted.

The advisory highlighted that Delhi Airport continues to experience significantly reduced visibility, which is affecting flight schedules.

“6ETravelAdvisory: Delhi continues to experience significantly reduced visibility due to fog, impacting flight schedules. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to ensure smooth travel for everyone,” IndiGo added.

Weather and Air Quality Update in Delhi

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 10.2°C at 5:30 AM on Saturday.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) remained in the ‘very poor’ category, recorded at 385 at 6 AM by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The previous day’s AQI stood at 348.

AQI Classification:

  • 0-50: Good
  • 51-100: Satisfactory
  • 101-200: Moderate
  • 201-300: Poor
  • 301-400: Very Poor
  • 401-500: Severe

Fog Disruptions in Bengaluru

In addition to Northern India, Bengaluru is also experiencing low visibility due to fog, affecting flight operations.

IndiGo issued a separate advisory for passengers traveling from Bengaluru, stating:
“6ETravelAdvisory: Due to foggy conditions in Bengaluru, low visibility may lead to changes in flight schedules. We request you to stay updated on your flight status before heading to the airport.”

As per IMD Bengaluru, the city recorded a minimum temperature of 15.6°C on Saturday.

Passengers are urged to check their flight status through the airline’s website or mobile app before heading to the airport to avoid inconvenience caused by last-minute changes.
