Jammu and Kashmir Police uncover a deep-rooted Lashkar-e-Taiba network using forged identities across multiple states.
April 12, 2026: In a major crackdown, Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with central intelligence agencies, has dismantled an interstate module of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), detaining several individuals from Haryana and Rajasthan. Officials said the network facilitated terrorists by arranging forged documents such as Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, voter IDs, and passports, enabling their movement and operations across states.
The operation, led by Srinagar Police, gained momentum after the arrest of key operatives, including Pakistani terrorists Abdullah alias Abu Hureira and Usman alias Khubaib. Investigations revealed that one operative, Umar alias “Kharghosh,” managed to escape to Indonesia using fake travel documents and is believed to be currently based in a Gulf country. The probe also exposed how terrorists built support networks in states like Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab.
Authorities said the module had deep financial and logistical links, with local operatives providing shelter, food, and arms. Large quantities of weapons, including AK-47 rifles and grenades, were recovered from hideouts. The crackdown follows earlier action linked to the 2025 Red Fort blast case, highlighting an evolving “white-collar” terror ecosystem. Officials indicated that further arrests are likely as the investigation continues.
