Shiromani Akali Dal MP accuses Bhagwant Mann of ‘misbehaving’ with farmers, criticizes BJP, AAP, and Congress for failing to fulfill promises

New Delhi, March 13: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal has launched a sharp attack on Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, accusing him of misbehaving with farmers and failing to deliver on promises made to them. She also lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Congress, blaming them for ignoring farmers’ concerns despite making big promises.

“Three Years, No Action—Farmers Have Been Betrayed”

Speaking to ANI, Badal criticized all three major political parties for exploiting farmers’ issues for votes but failing to act once in power.

“All three parties—Congress, AAP, and BJP—made big promises to farmers. When Congress’ Captain Amarinder Singh was the CM, farmers were sitting outside Delhi for more than 1.5 years, and more than 700 farmers lost their lives,” she said.

She slammed the AAP-led Punjab government, questioning its treatment of protesting farmers and accusing Bhagwant Mann of being insensitive towards their struggles.

“This AAP government also made big promises to the protesting farmers. It has been three years since they formed the government, but nothing has happened. The CM misbehaves with the farmers. Is he a CM or a gangster?” she asked.

Massive Farmers’ Protest Escalates in Punjab

Last week, thousands of farmers gathered at Amritsar’s Golden Gate, intensifying their protest against the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government. Farmers expressed anger over unfulfilled promises, delayed payments, and the lack of concrete action on agricultural issues.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher accused the Punjab government of violating farmers’ rights and illegally arresting protesters. He announced a statewide protest movement, with effigies of the Punjab government being burned across multiple districts.

“We will have programs in around 18 districts. At 21 locations in Amritsar alone, we will burn effigies of the Bhagwant Mann government,” Pandher said.

He also demanded the immediate release of detained farmers, warning that the agitation would intensify if the government failed to act.

“Today’s program is against the human rights violations of farmers. It will be done peacefully, but we demand that all arrested farmers be released immediately,” he added.

A Deepening Crisis

The farmers’ protest in Punjab continues to gain momentum, with growing anger against the government’s inaction on key issues like loan waivers, crop prices, and compensation for deceased farmers.

With tensions rising and political leaders taking strong stances, the situation is set to become a major flashpoint in Punjab politics ahead of the upcoming elections.
