April 10, 2026: A 29-year-old man from Premnagar in Dehradun has been arrested for allegedly engaging in anti-national and terror-related activities, with police claiming he was in contact with Pakistan-based handlers. The arrest was carried out by the Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) and local police under ‘Operation Prahar’ on the night of April 9–10. Officials seized an illegal .32 bore pistol, seven live cartridges and a spray paint can from the accused, identified as Vikrant Kashyap.
According to police, Kashyap was allegedly in touch with operatives linked to Pakistan’s intelligence network through social media platforms. He was reportedly tasked with sending videos and visuals of key locations in Dehradun, including ISBT, police headquarters and other government buildings. Investigators said he was lured with promises of money and relocation abroad, and was instructed to carry out reconnaissance and plan attacks with the help of local contacts.
During questioning, police said the accused revealed he was influenced through online content and later assigned tasks such as spreading fear by writing messages linked to extremist groups and sharing videos with handlers. He was also allegedly directed to carry out attacks in Delhi. Authorities said crucial evidence has been recovered from his mobile phone, and further investigation is underway with multiple agencies involved.
