Claustrophobics might not want to see. Viral video of Bengaluru's ₹25,000 rent flat shocks internet
February 10, 2025: Bengaluru’s skyrocketing rents and shrinking living spaces have reached a new level of absurdity, as highlighted by a viral Instagram video. A man showcases his ₹25,000-per-month rented flat, leaving viewers both shocked and amused by its tiny proportions.

A Micro Flat That Redefines Compact
The video opens with the tenant standing in the middle of the room, spreading his arms wide to touch both walls simultaneously, demonstrating the narrowness of the space. In a comical twist, he also shows how he can reach the opposite wall with his feet and hand while lying down, emphasizing the room’s extreme compactness.

The balcony offers little reprieve—it’s merely a sliver of space where only one person can stand uncomfortably. Adding humor to the situation, the tenant jokes, “Bhut fayde hai itne chote room ka—saman nahi le paaoge toh paisa bachega, kyunki loge toh rakhoge kaha?” (The benefit of such a small room is that you won’t buy things, saving money since there’s nowhere to store them).

Social media exploded with reactions, with users leaving witty comments. One quipped, “Isse bada toh mera toilet hai” (My toilet is bigger than this). Another user joked, “Ye toh shuru hote hi khatam ho gaya” (It ends as soon as it starts).
Some compared Bengaluru’s housing woes to Mumbai’s infamous space crunch. One user commented, “Come to Mumbai.” Another added, “Mumbai bhi same hai… thode dino baad Pune bhi aisa hi ho jayega.”
Last year, a similar video from Mumbai went viral, showcasing a ₹45,000/month 1BHK apartment in Matunga. The cramped home featured a washing machine placed above a commode, a loft for storage, and barely enough room for movement.
As cities like Bengaluru and Mumbai continue to grow, such “micro flats” serve as stark reminders of the challenges of urbanization and rising property prices.
