18-year-old Aditi Mishra, devastated over JEE results, apologizes to parents in her final note
February 13, 2025: Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh: In a heartbreaking incident, 18-year-old Aditi Mishra, a JEE aspirant, took her own life after failing to clear the highly competitive engineering entrance exam. A suicide note addressed to her parents was found in her hostel room, where she apologized, saying, “Sorry Mummy, Papa… forgive me, I couldn’t do it.”‘

Two Years of Hard Work Ends in Tragedy
Aditi had been preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for two years at Momentum Coaching Center in Gorakhpur. She lived in Satyadeep Girls Hostel, where she shared a room with another student.
According to reports, she spoke to her parents on Wednesday morning after checking her JEE results, expressing disappointment. She even asked her father to recharge her mobile phone, giving no indication of her devastating decision.
Later that day, while Aditi’s roommate was out, she took her own life. When the roommate returned and found the door locked, she peeked inside and saw Aditi hanging from a noose made from a stole. She immediately informed the hostel warden, who then contacted the police.
Final Note to Her Family
The police recovered a heart-wrenching suicide note from Aditi’s room, which read:
“Sorry Mummy, Papa, forgive me… I couldn’t do it. This is the end of our relationship… you guys don’t cry… you gave me a lot of love. I couldn’t fulfill your dreams… Please take care of Choti, she will definitely fulfill your dreams. Your beloved daughter, Aditi.”
Family and Authorities React
Aditi’s family, from Mishraulia village in Sant Kabir Nagar district, has been informed of the tragedy. Her body has been sent for postmortem, and further investigations are underway.
Superintendent of Police (City) Abhinav Tyagi stated that the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the postmortem, but preliminary findings suggest extreme distress over her academic performance.
