Kapil Sharma Pays Tribute to Former PM Manmohan Singh: ‘A Legacy of Progress and Hope’

Comedian Kapil Sharma joins leaders and citizens in mourning the passing of Dr. Manmohan Singh, recalling his wisdom, integrity, and transformative leadership.

New Delhi, December 27: Comedian and actor Kapil Sharma joined the nation in mourning the passing of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who breathed his last at the age of 92 on Thursday evening.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Kapil shared a heartfelt tribute along with a throwback picture from one of his meetings with the former Prime Minister.

India has lost one of its finest leaders today. Dr. Manmohan Singh, the architect of India’s economic reforms and a symbol of integrity and humility, leaves behind a legacy of progress and hope. His wisdom, dedication, and vision transformed our nation. Rest in peace, Dr. Singh. Your contributions will never be forgotten,” Kapil wrote in his emotional post.

PM Modi Pays Tribute

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed deep sorrow over Dr. Singh’s demise, calling him “one of India’s most distinguished leaders.”

India mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished leaders, Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. Rising from humble origins, he became a respected economist and served in key government roles, leaving an indelible mark on India’s economic policies. His wisdom and humility were always evident,” PM Modi shared on X.

He added, “We had many deliberations on governance when he was Prime Minister, and I was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with Dr. Singh’s family, friends, and admirers. Om Shanti.

A Statesman Remembered

Dr. Manmohan Singh, who served as Prime Minister of India for two consecutive terms (2004-2014), played a pivotal role in India’s economic liberalization and was widely respected for his integrity and leadership.

Born in Punjab in 1932, Dr. Singh rose from humble beginnings to become an acclaimed economist and statesman. He served in various influential roles, including Finance Minister and Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.

Singh retired from the Rajya Sabha earlier this year after serving for 33 years in the upper house of Parliament.

His tenure as Finance Minister in 1991 is remembered for bold economic reforms that laid the foundation for India’s rapid growth.

As tributes pour in from across the nation and beyond, Dr. Manmohan Singh’s legacy remains a beacon of hope, wisdom, and selfless service.
