February 1 2025: A 19-year-old girl in Kerala, who was a survivor of a previous POCSO case, tragically succumbed to her injuries on Friday following a brutal assault by her boyfriend. The incident occurred at her residence in Chottanikkara earlier this week.

The victim was found severely injured on Monday and was rushed to a private hospital in Kochi, where she remained on ventilator support. Despite efforts to save her, she passed away in the afternoon, according to police reports.
The accused, a man in his twenties, was arrested on Wednesday. Initially, he was charged with physical assault and sexual abuse under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita following a complaint filed by the victim’s mother.

Details of the Assault
According to the police, the accused admitted to visiting the victim’s home on Sunday night, January 26, where a confrontation took place. The victim was later found in a critical state.
Following the victim’s death, police have stated that the charges against the accused may now be escalated to murder, pending the post-mortem report and the statement from doctors who treated her.

The incident has sparked outrage in the local community and beyond, with calls for swift justice for the young woman. Authorities are continuing their investigation to ensure all aspects of the case are addressed.
