Kota Restaurant Collapse Kills Two
13 injured as building caves in during repair work; probe ordered
February 8, 2026: At least two people lost their lives and thirteen others were injured after a restaurant building collapsed on Opera Hospital Road in Rajasthan’s Kota. The incident triggered panic in the area as rescue teams rushed to the spot and pulled 15 people out from the debris. Five of the injured are currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital, while others were discharged after receiving first aid.
Officials said the collapse occurred during repair work being carried out at the rear portion of the restaurant. Structural stress caused by an adjacent building is also believed to have contributed to the accident. Rajasthan Minister Heeralal Nagar visited the hospital to inquire about the condition of the injured, while Minister Madan Dilawar personally inspected the collapse site.
Authorities have ordered a detailed investigation to fix responsibility and ensure accountability. Local residents and eyewitnesses appreciated the swift response of rescue personnel, which helped prevent further casualties. The incident has once again raised concerns over building safety in Kota, prompting officials to assure strict action against those found responsible and stronger enforcement of construction norms.
