July 13, 2025: Kota Srinivasa Rao Death – Renowned Telugu actor and former MLA, Kota Srinivasa Rao, passed away at the age of 83, leaving behind a profound legacy in Indian cinema and theatre. Known for his powerful screen presence and exceptional versatility, Rao’s illustrious career spanned nearly four decades, during which he acted in over 750 films across Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and other Indian languages.
Making his debut in 1978 with Pranam Khareedu, Rao became a fixture in Indian cinema, celebrated for both villainous and character roles. His stellar performances earned him nine Nandi Awards across multiple categories, reflecting his extraordinary range and depth as an actor.
In 1999, Rao extended his service to the public as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Vijayawada, serving until 2004. Recognizing his contributions to Indian cinema, the Government of India awarded him the Padma Shri in 2015.
Among his notable Bollywood appearances, Rao’s role in Sarkar alongside Amitabh Bachchan stands out for its intensity and gravitas.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow at Rao’s passing, calling it an “irreparable loss” to the Telugu film industry and remembering him as an artist whose performances “will remain etched in the hearts of Telugu audiences.”
