
Kullu on Alert: Flash Floods and Rising Water Levels in Himachal After Cloudburst
There was a sudden cloudburst in the Sharod Nala area that made rivers rise, but officials say the situation is now under control and there have been no deaths.
August 9, 2025, Kullu, Himachal Pradesh: People in Kullu are on high alert after a sudden cloudburst was recorded in the Sharod Nala area on Friday. The heavy rain has caused the water levels in the Barogi Nala, which is next to the affected area, to rise quite quickly.
The Central Water Commission said that the event happened during a time of severe rain, which caused a significant rise in water levels. Local officials, such as those from the Fire Station in Jari and the Public Works Department, are keeping a close eye on the situation.
The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of Kullu has announced that no one has died so far, which is a relief for the community. Officials say that the situation is currently under control, even though it is still tense. The event is a clear reminder of how unpredictable and strong the monsoon season is in Himachal Pradesh.
