“Lipstick on a Pig”: Ex-US Official Blasts Pakistan, Compares Army Chief to Bin Laden After Pahalgam Attack
April 24, 2025: New Delhi:
Former Pentagon official and senior American Enterprise Institute fellow Michael Rubin has issued a scathing indictment of Pakistan following the brutal Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 dead, including tourists and civilians. In a striking comparison, Rubin likened Pakistan’s Army chief General Asim Munir to Osama Bin Laden, saying, “The only difference is Bin Laden lived in a cave, Munir lives in a palace.”
Speaking to ANI, Rubin urged the United States to officially designate Pakistan as a state sponsor of terror, and label Munir himself a terrorist. “You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig,” he said, criticizing any attempt to disguise the attack as a spontaneous act. “This wasn’t random. It’s part of a broader pattern.”

Rubin further alleged that the timing of the attack — during US Vice President JD Vance’s visit to India — echoed Pakistan’s historical pattern of sabotaging diplomatic moments, referencing a similar attack during President Bill Clinton’s India trip.
India responded to the massacre in Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadow with a suite of retaliatory measures:
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri called Pakistan’s involvement in the attack “undeniable” and emphasized that India will not tolerate state-sponsored terrorism cloaked in diplomatic silence.
