Police step in after local disputes trigger unrest in MP, Karnataka and Telangana
February 20, 2026: Incidents of unrest were reported from three states on Thursday, prompting heightened security and police action. In Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, a dispute over alleged damage to a temple grill escalated into tension in parts of the city. The situation intensified, leading police to carry out baton charges to disperse crowds and restore order.
In Bagalkot, Karnataka, a disagreement over loud DJ music reportedly spiralled into clashes, with stone-pelting between groups. Police intervened swiftly and brought the situation under control, though officials said security has been tightened as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, in Hyderabad’s Amberpet locality in Telangana, unrest broke out near a Jama Masjid after a disturbance by a group triggered tensions in the area. Police acted promptly to prevent escalation and restored calm. Authorities in all three locations remain on alert and are closely monitoring developments to maintain law and order.
