‘Looteri Dulhan’ Scam: Woman Marries Rich Men, Dupes Them of ₹1.25 Crore in Decade-Long Fraud

Subhead: Seema targeted wealthy, divorced, or widowed men via matrimonial sites, extorting settlements through false cases and fleeing with cash and valuables.

Rewritten Article:

In a shocking revelation, a woman identified as Seema alias Nikki has been arrested for orchestrating a decade-long scam, marrying wealthy men and extorting ₹1.25 crore in settlements and stolen valuables.

A Pattern of Deception

Seema, a resident of Uttarakhand, began her fraudulent scheme in 2013 when she married a businessman from Agra. Shortly after the marriage, she filed a legal case against his family and managed to extract a settlement of ₹75 lakh.

In 2017, she targeted a software engineer from Gurugram, marrying him and later demanding a ₹10 lakh settlement after filing similar allegations.

Her third victim, in 2023, was a Jaipur-based businessman. This time, Seema didn’t wait for a settlement. She fled his home with jewellery and cash worth ₹36 lakh. Following a police complaint filed by the businessman’s family, Jaipur Police arrested Seema after months of investigation.

The Modus Operandi

Investigations revealed that Seema targeted her victims on matrimonial websites, carefully selecting men who were either divorced or widowed. By exploiting their emotional vulnerabilities, she would quickly gain their trust, marry them, and then execute her plan to extort money or steal valuables.

To avoid suspicion, she married men in different states, making it harder for law enforcement agencies to track her pattern. Over the years, Seema managed to accumulate ₹1.25 crore through these fraudulent activities.

The Arrest and Ongoing Investigation

Seema’s final act in Jaipur brought her decade-long fraud to light. The police are now investigating if there are more victims linked to her scheme and whether she operated alone or with accomplices.

Authorities have also issued a warning to users of matrimonial platforms to exercise caution while interacting with potential matches and to verify backgrounds thoroughly before proceeding with marriage.

This case has sparked discussions about fraudulent practices on matrimonial sites and the need for stricter verification mechanisms to prevent such scams.
